Tristan und Isolde: Prelude

Tristan und Isolde

Twilights ascension unto the underworld

has opened a heart to nature

seasoned kindling added to the fire

stokes time catapults closer

to warm effervescence

still the curtain of dawn opens wide

the stage door

as hands reach out and souls do bind

filtering out the clamorous ways

of wayward wanderers

held close and firm to the homeland

hear what beating intertwined hearts

and breath to lips does say

sing unto the song of oneness

ebb and flow together

So near and so far

cries of long lost love

echo and volley across the landscape

Down a corridor of a house well known

shadows move from sparkling light

across cool marble floors

in the solitude of night

alone and weary

from the struggle

love is a stranger to the heart

which yearns and toils unrequited

mournful, sullen

longingly, languishing

reaching out into a cold starry night air

as darkness descends upon this knight

forthright and free

lost in love and never going to be

Shadows envelope and descend

from the heavens

extinguishing the soul

walking alone

desiring for an end to be

motionless awaiting fates grim tale

the solace of nature in soothing

sensual sounds

wash over and comfort

as unknown before

the heart fills

and bursts from within.
